Support & FAQ
Stuck on something? Most answers live below. If yours doesn't, write to us — a reader will write back.
How do I track my reading progress?
Open any book on your shelf and tap Update progress. You can log by chapter or by page — pick whichever fits the book, and switch any time in the book's settings. Your progress bar fills in amber with a little bookmark riding the edge, and each update counts toward your streak.
How does the spoiler lock actually work?
Every comment in a club thread is tied to a position in the book (like "Chapter 12"). If your bookmark hasn't reached that point yet, the comment appears as a frosted, blurred card with a lock — you can see that a conversation exists, but not what it says. The moment you log progress past that point, it unlocks with a gentle fade. Tapping a locked card just makes it wiggle; nothing you can do will reveal it early, so you can scroll worry-free.
Can I post about a twist without ruining it for friends who are behind?
Yes — that's the whole point. When you post in a chapter thread, your comment is automatically locked for anyone who hasn't read that far. Say whatever you're bursting to say; BookLoop shields the readers behind you. Just keep spoilers out of thread titles and your username, where locks can't reach.
How do book clubs work? Can I start my own?
Anyone can start a club: pick a book, name your club, and invite friends with a link (or open it to other BookLoop readers). Clubs have chapter-by-chapter threads, an optional shared reading pace, and the same spoiler locks as everywhere else. There are no deadlines — the club simply shows what everyone's discussing, like "The club is discussing Chapter 12…".
What counts toward my reading streak? What if I miss a day?
Any progress update on any book keeps your streak alive — a chapter, five pages, whatever the evening allows. Your ember grows a golden glow ring at 7 days and again at 30. If you miss a day, the streak resets, but your longest streak is remembered forever, and your books don't go anywhere. It's meant to be a gentle nudge, not a guilt trip.
Can I keep my shelf private?
Your bookshelf room is visible to other BookLoop readers by default (it's the social heart of the app), but you can set it to friends only in Settings → Privacy. Club discussions are always only visible to that club's members. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
How do I delete my account and data?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account in the app. If you'd rather, email hello@bookloop.app from your account's email address and we'll take care of it within 30 days. Deletion removes your profile, shelves, reading activity, and personal details — the full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
A book I'm reading isn't in BookLoop. What do I do?
Use Add manually from the Discover tab — title, author, and chapter or page count are all it needs. Manually added books get a handsome generated spine in your shelf colors, and you can track and discuss them like any other book. If you think our catalog is missing something popular, tell us and we'll look into it.
Still stuck? Say hello.
Email us at hello@bookloop.app and we'll get back to you within two business days — usually sooner. Include your username if it's about your account (never your password; we'll never ask for it).
